Over 600,000 new businesses are estimated to open up each year. Entrepreneurs everywhere are making their dreams come true as we speak.
You have big ideas. You’re ready for something new. How do you know if you should be an entrepreneur?
An entrepreneur is simply someone ready to take on the challenges and risks of starting and running a business. That being said, certain qualities make someone a good entrepreneur.
What are those qualities? Read on to find out.
You Always Want New Opportunities
Do you find yourself making shifts in your career as you become aware of new opportunities? Are you unsatisfied unless you are striving for a bigger, better position?
If you aren’t one to rest in your comfort zone, you’ll find success as an entrepreneur. You’re always looking for new ways to improve and better places to put your energy. This will come in handy as your putting together your own business.
You’re a Natural Leader
It’s one thing to be part of a start-up and another to lead the way. Entrepreneurs are not the cogs that keep the machine running. They are not workers who focus on one of the many tasks needed to keep a company afloat.
Instead, they are people who captain the ship. You must be able to make big decisions, even if they affect others, and you need to feel confident doing it.
You Have Follow-Through
There are many folks out there who have entrepreneurial ideas but don’t possess the motivation to follow through, even when things get tough. There’s a reason why almost half of new businesses don’t survive their fifth year, and it’s not because the business idea was bad. It’s because the entrepreneur lost faith, confidence, or drive.
Worried about your own motivation levels? We’ve got you covered with these 5 habits you can adopt to develop your ability to self-motivate.
You’re Money Savvy
You’ve got to know when and how to invest in marketing, travel expenses, and hiring. As an entrepreneur, you’ve got a lot of money at stake–and a lot of it is your own.
Think about your past budgeting attempts, from professional to personal experiences. Do you know how to make good returns on investment and know when to sit tight and save up? If so, you may have the money skills to run your own company.
You See the Forest and the Trees
Many people are drawn to the world of entrepreneurship because it seems flashy. You get to throw around a lot of big ideas and take a lot of wild risks.
However, being an entrepreneur isn’t just about coming up with big ideas. A lot of times, the job isn’t glamorous. You have to stay focused on accomplishing the big goals by keeping the small details in sight and under control.

Changing careers can be stressful, but it’s crucial if you’re ready for a serious change that can make a significant impact on your well-being and your bottom line.

Start with Self-Reflection
Finding a new career can be a bit scary, but you need to do some soul-searching so you find your “why.” Decide what type of tasks you’d rather invest your time and energy in to guide you toward a new direction.
Similar to what most businesses do, you need to decide what your personal mission statement is. Write down the top three things you value most, then draft your mission statement and center your job search around those values.
Finally, take a closer look at any obstacles that might be standing in your way. Use your strengths to help you remove those obstacles so you can move forward and toward a new career that’s personally fulfilling.
Finding a New Career: Make Actionable Changes
Once you’re ready to change jobs, you must start to make real, tangible changes to get you where you want to be. Whether it’s taking an online class or signing up for free training, you need to have tools in your arsenal to help you make the switch.
Start by working on your resume so that it’s polished and ready to submit to employers. If you get certifications or finish classes along the way, update your resume so you have more clout.
Everything you do to move closer to a new career will give you the confidence to make the change. Even if it’s just joining a chat with like-minded people, these small things can give you the motivation you need.
Networking is Key
If you’re serious about changing careers, networking with others is one of the best ways to do it. Whether you attend a conference or use LinkedIn to learn and meet people, reach out to those who are in the field you’re interested in.
Internships are a fantastic way to help you determine if a specific career or industry is right for you. Meeting others and talking with them can be the catalyst that will get you to your goal.
Spend some time really getting to know people who are in different fields that interest you. When you network, you’ll discover new opportunities that you likely didn’t know existed.

Across the globe, safety standards push more and more people to stay in and work from home while scientists figure out how to handle COVID-19. With such a sudden switch, many people do not know how to stay productive without the structure of their office.
How can you stay productive so that your work does not suffer? Follow these productivity tips to stay on track with your work!
1. Schedule Yourself
When you first start learning how to work from home, it may feel like a free-for-all that allows you to work whenever you want. While this does hold some truth, not scheduling your workday may end up in disaster.
Enjoy the flexibility and create a schedule that works best for your routine. But, stick to it!
Even if you do not have an entire room to spare for a home office, create a workspace for yourself. Designate one area for work only.
This will help you shift into work mode and stay motivated. Do not make this space your bed, because not only will you feel too relaxed to work, but you will also start associating your sleep space with work.
2. Get Ready
One of the best tips for working from home is to pretend that you’re not. Get up and get yourself ready as if you need to go into the office.
This will help you mentally prepare for work mode. Plus, if your boss calls a surprise office video chat, you already look presentable.
3. Remove Distractions
Turn off your television and completely close out Facebook, Instagram, and any other attention grabber that might tempt you in. Put your phone onto block mode so that you do not receive the notifications for incoming calls or texts, but can call out for business.
4. Get Family On Board
When figuring out how to be productive at home, family members can add to the confusion. Talk with them ahead of time about the importance of working distraction-free.
Make rules, like only coming to you for an absolute emergency an staying quiet during certain hours. Try to keep kids doing schoolwork while you work so that they crave quiet too.
Keep yourself in constant communication with your workforce. This will help keep you motivated and on point.
You might set up morning and afternoon emails to check-in. Also, try to set up Skype meetings at least once a day.
6. Take Scheduled Breaks
Schedule breaks throughout your day so that you can recook your productive mindset. During those breaks, eat, set up the kids with something new to do, and complete any home task that will weigh on your mind.

Staying motivated day-in and day-out isn’t easy. Even when we really want to be.
One of the best tips for motivation is learning to not sit around waiting for inspiration to hit. Inspiration certainly helps but isn’t required.
Set short and long term goals that matter to you. Schedule and plan for how you will achieve them, including what to do when proceeding feels too difficult.
The next time you’re feeling like you’re just ready to quit, try these suggestions to find the motivation you need to move forward.
1. Fake It ‘Til You Make It
Sometimes the hardest part about getting something done is getting started. When you’re truly feeling unmotivated, concentrate on taking the first step. Such as getting dressed appropriately for the next task or gathering the tools you need to get the work done.
Set a timer for 10 minutes and promise yourself that you can quit when the timer goes off. Chances are likely you’ll have found the momentum to continue on even after the bell chimes.
2. Look for Inspiration
No matter what you’re trying to achieve, there are likely other people who have gone down the path you’re on. Look for blogs, podcasts, books, and articles written by them for inspiration. Even success stories unrelated to what you’re trying to find motivation for can spark your heart, body, and mind into action.
3. Keep Things In Perspective
Everyone has moments where they feel unmotivated or burned out. When it happens to you, don’t dwell on it or feel bad about it. Accept that it’s part of the process and work your way through it.
You may just need a break or need to spend some time doing something outside your normal routine. Take a look at how you have been eating, sleeping, and how much you’ve been working. Make adjustments where necessary.
4. Break Down Big Goals
Many of life’s most important goals take months, even years, to accomplish. Those tasks can feel overwhelming when looked at as one big event, but oftentimes there are many small, individual steps that get you to the finish line. It is easy to get unmotivated or feel like your goals are out of reach.
When this happens, take some time out plot out the necessary steps to get you from where you are to the end. Set realistic steps that you can achieve and celebrate as you move forward.
5. Reach Out for Help
Sometimes a lack of motivation stems simply from not being sure what the next step is you should be taking. This can result in analysis paralysis, leaving you in a state where you can’t make a decision.
When this happens, seek out a friend or colleague that has knowledge that can help you. If that doesn’t help, look for a mentor who has experience creating, building or dealing with the problems you are facing.
Use These Tips for Motivation
When you find yourself at a loss of willingness to get started, try one or all of these tips for motivation to get back on track. Staying focused on why your goals matter to you will help you succeed.

Creative thinking can benefit nearly every aspect of our lives. Our work, our relationships, and our understanding of ourselves can be transformed through creative thought and expression.
More often than not, though, we can feel creatively blocked when we feel we need it the most.
When trying to access a more creative way of thinking, it can be useful to look at the habits of highly creative people.
You don’t have to be a world-renown artist or author to incorporate these five traits of creative people. Let’s take a look.
1. Spending Time Alone
In our society, solitude and loneliness are often seen as synonyms.
One doesn’t have to be lonely to spend time alone, though, and many creative people find new ideas and inspiration in the quiet of their own minds.
You don’t have to pack up and go on a silent meditation retreat to enjoy this access point to creativity. Even brief moments of solitude can illicit original thoughts. No wonder interesting ideas always come to us in the shower.
2. Being Observant
Creative people notice things that others don’t. They’re constantly looking at and listening to the world around them.
Observing even the most seemingly mundane surroundings can actually be a wealth of creative inspiration. Sense data from the world often directly informs creative works or at least leads to the thought processes that do.
3. Generating Creative Energy From Life’s Obstacles
There’s a stereotype about the tortured artist for a reason. Creative people have a knack for turning life’s struggles into powerful and moving works of art, writing, and music.
Within the terrifying realm of a break-up, the death of a loved one, or losing your job, lies powerful creative potential. Whether you prefer writing, painting, or playing the guitar, creative expression can be an incredibly useful and healing tool in life’s hardest moments.
It isn’t only creative types who benefit from adversity. Research has shown that trauma and loss can actually lead to spiritual, personal, interpersonal growth, and seeing new possibilities in one’s life.
4. Being Curious
One of the consistent habits of the creative mind is a strong sense of curiosity.
Creative people are constantly asking questions, big questions. Some might largely examine their own life with a fine-toothed comb, while others might ponder the nature of being and existence itself.
There are so many unanswered questions about our lives here on earth. While some people might not lose sleep at night wondering why and how, a creative mind is often preoccupied with these questions.
5. Following the Muse
If you take a look at Mason Currey’s book called Daily Rituals, you’ll find that there’s a lot of variety in how the greatest minds in history scheduled their days.
While some of these geniuses maintained balanced and regular schedules, others kept odd sleeping and working hours. Some had day jobs, while others had all their time to devote to their craft.
The creative urge can strike at any time. You may go weeks without feeling creative instincts until all of a sudden it washes over you like a wave. One of the traits of creative people is that they take advantage of the opportunities when inspiration strikes.
Become the Highly Creative Person You Know You Are
Whether you’re trying to adopt creative habits to solve a problem at work or for more personal or spiritual purposes, practicing some or all of these habits will help you find that creative spark.

As a workaholic, you probably think you may never experience career burnout. But of course, this could not be further from the truth. Eventually, the workaholic will feel exhausted from their career and endless working. Luckily, there are ways to avoid burnout.
No matter how much you enjoy your work, you will want to know how to avoid burnout. Here are 5 Simple Ways to Avoid Career Burnout:
1. Take a Break
This may seem obvious, but you must organize breaks in between your workflow. Organize them and be disciplined with them. For example:
- Meals: Take 30 minutes to 1-hour meal breaks and do not work while eating. Focus entirely on your meal. And of course, make sure your meals are healthy and your workspace is prepared for a nice lunch.
- Short breaks: Time short breaks, 15 to 20 minutes long after long periods of work. Perhaps every two hours you should stop your work and take these breaks. Go for a walk or even meditate.
2. Socialize Outside of Work
If workaholics are accused of anything it is that they do not socialize outside of work. They spend more time with their colleagues than with their friends. Make sure you take the time to go out with your friends. Whether this is going out for a meal during your lunch break, going out to the movies, or something very energetic like dancing – make sure you spend time with others who share interests other than your work.
3. Delegate Your Tasks
This may not work for every scenario, but delegating certain tasks not only frees up your time but reduces your stress. The less your burden the less weight you feel on your shoulders. If you have an assistant or secretary, maybe they can make you a cup of coffee instead of you getting it for yourself. Maybe you can hire an assistant for more administrative tasks which cut into your larger projects. The more you free your time and your burden, the greater your chance of preventing burnout.
4. Plan Your Time
Often workaholics are disciplined with their work but not with their time. You need to plan your work schedule. This ranges from deciding your work hours; so instead of waking up early and finishing late, decide a certain range of hours to work and stick within those hours. Make sure your company’s ideas and goals are properly organized. If you are detailed with your goals and follow specific steps, you will see how this can avoid burnout.
5. Health Is Wealth
Lastly, but just as important, is the maintenance of your health. You need to make sure you are exercising regularly to maintain physical health. Even if you are glued to a desk for work, a physically unfit body does negatively affect your work life. Taking time to rest your mind, such as through meditation, is great for your mental health and reduces your stress. When you need to exercise your mind, read a book or engage in a fascinating discussion; your work should not be the only thing that exercises your mind.
To avoid career burnout you must combine working smart with working hard. Proper maintenance of your health, a detailed schedule, and smart work decisions will increase your productivity without taking its toll on your wellbeing.

As a business owner, it can be difficult to stay motivated in today’s market. We’re hitting an all-time high in terms of capitalism and entrepreneurship. While it’s fantastic for the economy, it can mean facing steep competition as a business owner.
With the natural ebb and flow of business, you’re bound to face some hard times, feel overwhelmed, and even feel like throwing in the towel, especially if you’re business is relatively young. However, there are positive ways to stay driven.
Take a look at the great business tips below for some ideas.
1. Set Attainable Goals
First, to stay driven, you need to know what your driving towards. There’s no point in putting the pedal to the metal if you don’t even know where you want to go.
Start by making a list of short-term, attainable goals. These need to be specific and measurable. Vague and immeasurable goals can often be cast aside or neglected due to their obscurity.
Figure out what you want to accomplish by the end of the week, month, and year. Then, set daily goals for yourself at the beginning of each week. Make sure you write your goals down somewhere you will constantly see them.
2. Conduct Market Research
Great business tips often state that knowledge is power. This cannot be overstated and is as true in business as in any other skill.
Conduct thorough market research at least once a month. Keep in eye on how market trends are changing. Learn and perfect the most effective ways to advertise for your type of business.
Keep notes on how various types of marketing perform. Look at what your competitors are doing and analyze their success.
3. Ask for Help
Next, a great business tip for anyone is knowing when to ask for help. Even if you are the sole owner and operator of your business, it doesn’t mean you can seek valuable advice from others.
Create a board of advisors from friends and family members who know a thing or two about business or even consumerism. Talk to financial managers, accountants, marketers, and so on. Finally, consider joining a business affiliation group to expand your networking.
4 Make a Plan
Earlier, we said that you have to know where you’re going to be effectual. However, you also need to know how you’re going to get there. Anyone can say “I want to be a millionaire,” but without a plan on how to get there, those desires will never come to fruition.
Create a plan of attack with actionable steps to get your business where you want it to go. Be realistic, yet determined. When you make a plan, you must stick with it and give it time to work to be sure of its efficacy.
5. Take Care of Yourself
Finally, of all the great business tips, perhaps the most important is learning how to take care of yourself. When you decide to become a business owner, you sign up for long days, sleepless nights, and a lot of work.
However, you won’t be able to maintain that lifestyle for long if you don’t learn any self-care techniques. Meditate, exercise, eat healthily, take time for yourself. If you run yourself into the ground, you won’t be any good for your business.
